Highland Lacrosse Canonizes Burke Catholic

Huskies run off with a 14-2 win

HIGHLAND – in a boys lacrosse game played Monday afternoon at the Highland Middle School, the Huskies ran all over Burke Catholic with a 14-2 win to improve to 8-3 on the season.

Highland jumped out with a monstrous 10 goals in the first half to Burke’s one goal. Coming out of the halftime locker room with a 10-1 lead, the Huskies toned it down a bit, scoring another three goals in the third and capping it off with 1 in the fourth.

Roger Hegeman led Highland with 4 goals, Jesse Weaver and Danny Rusk added three each. Jack Young, Christian Canino, Chris Hammond, and Mike Cerniglia each scored once. Rusk added four assists in this contest.

In goal, Danny Gandt was a busy man with 13 saves. Giorgio D’Angelo had three saves, and Joe Lyons relieved D’Angelo with a save of his own.

Highland’s next game is against cross town rival New Paltz this Friday at New Paltz with the opening face off at 4pm.
