FREEDOM PLAINS, NY – In the first meeting of the season between John Jay and Arlington, the Admirals held the Patriots to just 45 points in a 54-45 season opening win for Arlington. Now, a month later, John Jay has worked out some kinks and seems to be relying on its third quarter to put teams away. Jay outscored Arlington 23-12 after trailing 33-31 at halftime, and that proved to be the difference in Jay’s 70-61 win Thursday night.
“We did a nice job sharing the basketball and trusting each other on offense”, said John Jay head coach Terry Feeley. “I felt we matched Arlington’s toughness tonight and didn’t allow them to out work us – a trade mark of Coach Matt Hoyt’s teams”.
Jay received another strong game from Isaiah Tullo who scored a team high 18 points. Teammate Aiden Hilderbrand had 16 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Brady Hilderbrand scored 14 points with two three points and seven assists. Justin Long also scored in double digits with 11 points.
For Arlington, Rueben Greene led all scorers with 22 points. Nico Bossero had 17 points and four three pointers. Tommy Doyle scored 10 points.
