WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY – The Ketcham Indians boys basketball team hosted Arlington in the annual Orange Out, a fundraiser with proceeds of the game going to the Ronald McDonald House of the greater Hudson Valley towards pediatric cancer research. This 6th annual event was a barn burning, buzzer beating thrilling 56-53 win for the Admirals.
The final two minutes provided a roller coaster of emotions. With a 50-48 Ketcham lead, Arlington had several chances to tie the game, but a travel call followed by a turnover kept Ketcham in the lead as precious time ticked off the clock.
With a minute and a half remaining, Ketcham fouled and Arlington was able to tie the game on two free throws.
With 29 seconds left on the clock, Ketcham senior guard Mike Mignone hit a three pointer to put Ketcham ahead 53-50, but the Admirals came right back down the floor and Danny Duffy hit a clutch three pointer in front of the Arlington bench to tie the game at 53 with eight seconds remaining.
Ketcham brought the ball up the court but turned it over on an errant pass that went out of bounds.
Arlington had possession with three seconds remaining, but the inbound was at the far end of the court. An inbound pass to Nico Bossero started the clock countdown, as Bossero split two defenders and pushed the ball up to a wide open Duffy. Once again stationed in front of the Arlington bench, Duffy heaved a three pointer as the clock wound down – and drained it just as the final buzzer sounded. The Arlington bench and Admiral fans erupted in celebration on the court as Arlington won it 56-53.
