LAGRANGE – About 50 soccer hopefuls came out to Gold’s Gym in LaGrange Saturday night to try out for a newly formed semi-pro expansion team in the National Premiere Soccer League.
Team owner, Dennis Crowley, was thrilled to see potential team players on the field, scrimmaging, with his coaching staff scrutinizing the hand picked players asked to participate. “It’s exciting, seeing players on the field. these are some of the best players in the area.”
The hopefuls came from a nearby as Wappingers Falls and as far away as Nigeria.
“They all want an opportunity to be part of this exciting thing we are creating”, said newly named head coach George Vizvary.
Vizvary’s resume is stacked with experience and connections. He hand picked most of the players in attendance on this night, including former high school and college standouts from Ulster Community College, New Paltz, Marist, and Arlington high school.
The team begins play in May and will use Dietz Stadium in Kingston, as its home field.
Another tryout will be held for the public-at-large at a soon to be announced date and place.
