FREEDOM PLAINS, NY – It was senior night for the eight seniors of the Arlington boys basketball team. And Tommy Doyle and Danny Duffy made the most of it. Doyle scored 19 and Duffy had 13 in the Admirals Friday night 54-50 win over league rival Ketcham.
It was a game of runs with each team exchanging the lead throughout the game.
Arlington had a two point lead at halftime, but Ketcham came storming back in the third.
Down 45-41 in the 4th quarter, Ketcham sophomore sensation Alpha Bangura hit a three pointer to put the Indians within one.
On the next series, Bangura took the feed off the in-bounds and curled into the basket for a quick layup and a 46-45 Ketcham lead. But Arlington wouldn’t back down as Tommy Doyle drove to the basket for a two pint layup and Duffy followed that up with a three pointer that sealed the game for Arlington.
“It was a great high school basketball game.”, said Arlington head coach Matt Hoyt. ” It was back and forth all night. Great atmosphere for a high school game.”
Nick Murray finished the game with 11 points for Ketcham.
Both teams are 5-2 in league play and deadlocked at the top of the standings, with Arlington having the edge after beating Ketcham twice in 10 days.
