VIDEO: Haldane Softball Bombarded by Pine Plains

A slow start leads to a big finish for the Pine Plains Bombers softball team.

NORTH ROCKLAND –  Losing six starters from last season’s Pine Plains softball team meant the Bombers were going to have to rely on a couple of 7th and 8th graders to catch on quick.  While Pine Plains got a slow start in the New York State Regional Semifinal game against Haldane, the Bombers made up for it scoring 14 runs in four innings, for a 14-0 win over the Blue Devils

Representing Section 9 Class C, Pine Plains faced Section 1 champion Haldane at North Rockland High School on Thursday.

8th grader Kris Wilson opened the flood gates for Pine Plains with a two run single in the 4th inning.  From there, timely hitting, and stellar pitching led the Bombers right into Saturday’s State semifinal game against Section 8 champ, East Rockaway.

Wilson finished the game with two hits and two RBIs.  Cat Simmons had a couple of hits and Haley Strang went 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs

Hannah Monteleone doubled for Haldane.

Pine Plains’ state semifinal game is slated for 2 p.m. on the campus of Rhinebeck High School.
