Red Sox pitcher Brian Johnson gets tonight’s start as part of his rehab.

FISHKILL – The Hudson Valley Renegades four-game winning streak came to an end Thursday night at the hands of the visiting Lowell Spinners, in a 5-2 loss.

The Spinners broke the ice in the 4th inning when Renegades starter Mikey York served up a solo home run to Lowell left fielder Nick Hamilton.

Lowell added to their lead in the sixth when Juan Barriento hit a solo homer of his own over the left field wall to put the Spinners up 2-0.

Meanwhile, Lowell starter Jason Groome held the Renegades hitless through the first five innings.

Hudson Valley finally got on the board in the 7th off Spinners reliever Lukas Young. With runners at first and third, right fielder Angel Perez hit a ground ball that handcuffed Lowell second baseman Yomar Valentin. The play allowed one run to score and cut the deficit to 2-1. Hudson Valley then loaded the bases with one out when shortstop Deion Tansel grounded out to second to score the tying run and knot the game at two apiece.

The Spinners quickly answered back with a two out rally and three runs in the eighth inning, leading to the 5-2 final.

Hudson Valley finishes its series tonight against the Spinners with a 7:05 start. Renegades fans will get an early treat as Boston Red Sox pitcher Brian Johnson will pitch the first three innings for the Spinners on a rehab assignment. There will be fireworks following the game.
