VIDEO: Spackenkill SHER Looks Good in Season Opener

POUGHKEEPSIE , NY –  The Spackenkill Volleyball program had a good day with the JV sweeping the Ellenville Blue Devils and the Varsity following up with a sweep of their own.

In the varsity match,  Ellenville jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead, but then the Spartans picked up the pace and rattled off five in a row to take a lead they would not relinquish throughout the rest of the game.   Spackenkill took game one 25-14 and followed that up with a quick 5 point lead behind the powerful serves of Julieanne McKee who finished with 4 kills, 10 assists, 4 aces, and 1 block.

While Ellenville made a valiant comeback and got it to a two point game four times late in the contest, Spackenkill found a way to stretch the lead to three until Nini Sher led the way for a seven point run and a win in game two, 25-16.

The Spartans took complete control in game three with a 25-10 win for the match sweep.

Nini Sher finished with 11 kills, 4 assists and 4 aces.

Maya-K Johnson added 3 kills and 5 aces.  The Spartans travel to Pine Plains on Tuesday.  Ellenville hits the court on Tuesday as well as the Blue Devils travel to Onteora
